Artists'  Biographies

Deb

Hello, my name is Deborah Waldon and my passions have always been teaching and the arts.  I love to learn…anything, and that is what I want to invoke in my students…the shear LOVE of Learning.  To see the light bulb light up in their eyes is a thrill to me.

This is my “Transparent Wings:  The One Inch Wonder.”  It is really only the size of a big bumblebee; it also has see-through wings and is called, by some, a Hummingbird Moth.

Only after an extensive and diversified career teaching in the public school system:  Visual Arts, Theatre Arts, and all academic subjects in the regular classroom, have I been able to share my hunger for photography and all things “artsy/craftsy” with the public at large, "expanding my classroom."  This summer will be my second year teaching at the Transylvania Council for the Arts summer Arts camp.  I love to create…anything…

This is “Wading the Rainbow,” which I made during the ice storm of 2005.

“Etowah Reflections," also taken during the same ice storm.

My utter awe and childlike amazabiltiy at God’s wonders have driven me through the years to see resplendent beauty in the ordinary, especially the miniscule things that most never see, not REALLY see.

“Survival,” also from the same storm…I love all God’s wonders.

The whole of the outdoors is my classroom, and I hope, beyond hope, to even come close to capturing the landscapes painted by nature.  I take great pleasure in studying the beauty in the minutia around me.  I started taking macro photographs close to 20 years ago, before it was vogue.

   “Amaryllis Glory"

Seeing the vast popularity and extensive use, I now enthusiastically embrace other genres, as well.  Still, my core being has a driving need to give the world “new eyes” as I push my macro to the abstract and many liken it to Georgia O’Keefe’s early works.

“Untitled”   "Cannas Tongue"     Old World Dahlia”

I reside and thrive deep in the woods on a mountain near Etowah, NC just outside of Brevard, where I also do pottery, and Minimal Line Portraiture.  I also teach private and small group classes in Visual Art, as well as, Theatre.  My other company is Art is Art, soon to be online also.

“My Best Friend” "Buds on Black" “My Precious Angel”

Impress with UNIQUE entertainment, at its finest: for friends, neighbors, relatives, and visitors.
